Aloha Sims - See Old Review

Vima - We're sorry. The review you have requested cannot be found. It has most likely been carried of by a pack of wild baboons. We are sorry for any inconvience this causes you. Please notify us by sending an email to the webmaster which tells what you were trying to review.

Ok. In short, there isn't much of a change from my old review.

The empty pages have been removed, but there are still a significant amount of files missing from the wallpaper and floors section. It's really annoying to try to download something to find that it isn't really there.

The faces still are too small to see much of what they look like, but perhaps they are going for the game view.

Some of Brigitte and Allison's objects are cute, but some of the counters aren't seemless when placed side by side.

Still 3 martinis...broken links and not much changed since last review.

Simantha, can I have your little umbrella? These olives are starting to make me sick ;) Skyler's falling all over the place claiming to have had only a few drinks...I think she meant only a few too many. Where is Dane tonight...hmmm. "Aloha Skyler" ...she thinks I'm saying hi...I'm trying to say good-bye ;)

Sister Cecilia C. Robertsim
Pastor of the Church of Simmintology -
Aloha Sims, nice name...such a nice word really can mean so many things. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii, maybe for our anniversary if I can get a leave from the Church Pat will take me. In the meantime I guess I will just come here and see what they have that can give me that islands feeling.

Well first off the colors are soothing and cooling, not too busy. The set up is very clean, everything in little tables nicely labeled. Praise Be!

Very well “news updated site” here, seems to be something pretty much every day. I really like that, I enjoy the little chatty things, to me that makes a site more personal and makes me more inclined to visit again and again, sometimes just to see what is going on and not even to necessarily download anything.

So with all that said lets get on to the objects section... Ok, I have a minor complaint right off. I wish that everything were downloadable separately instead of whole sets at a time. I may want the sofa for example but not the lamp I am pretty choosy. Some of the sets are a bit flamboyant all together but there are some nice things standing on their own.

OH MY!!!! My eyes have just fallen out of my head, the children’s room set is sooooooooooooo bright!!!!!! Oh my, talk about visual stimulation for the child.... How could a child sleep in that sort of environment? Heavens help us!

But even having said that, the bed and the dresser are nicely recolored, as far technique goes, just not to my taste that is all.

Ok faces pages, well it is sort of hard to see the faces as the screen shots are a bit small. Maybe it is just my bad eyesight!

Roofs, yes ok, I need a couple of these!

Paintings, well there does seem to be a large number of pictures but once again they are hard to see...too small!

Ok all in all I have enjoyed my stay here, but the one thing that I would hope they change is enlarging the shots of things a bit! But I will give three and a half communion cups for the site.

Oh my is that Skyler?? Goodness where did she get that outfit? I really don’t know what to make of that girl...I had hoped that she would stop being so wild but now she even has Vima worried about Dane!

“Oh Skyler, can you sit with me in Piety Corner tonight???” I need to do something.....

Simantha - Aloha from Aloha Sims! Er, right. Tropical drinks for everybody :) This is nice, the news is neatly laid out. That's good. I have to admit I'm a bit confused by the left navigation menu, I don't really know what I'm supposed to be clicking on, what is the difference between the Star of Sims and all this other stuff? Is the Star of Sims this news column I'm reading about in the news section? So confused...

Well, what we all came for: the objects. Oh, man, is there one set of objects per page? Okay....that's a lot of wasted blank space down there then. And I can't get to the main objects directory very quickly this way either, I have to keep going "back" through pages I've just been looking at. Ack. They're mostly recolors, but they're decent recolors. Hm, okay, I guess I'm disoriented by the lack of consistency in the way these pages are set up.

Since my connection is super slow and I have to go make dinner soon ;) I'm moving on to skins...As usual, mostly women and a few men, no kids skins. The skins look pretty decent, the screenshots of them are a leetle small but no big deal. I like how they're made compatible for Macs too.

Dinner calls, I'd better finish off this coconut drink thing. Anyone want the umbrella? Oh, right. Hmm...eh, two and a half tropical drinks for Aloha Sims because the navigation's driving me nuts.

Storel - The Objects section didn't do much for me. Most of the objects are so-so recolorings; the pink bathroom set and the plate of orange slices weren't bad, though. The three objects in Decor were all original and pretty good looking, but none of them were at quite the right angle, which is something that particularly bugs me.

The Skins section wasn't great, either. The pictures of the skins were too small to display the skins well, and the skins don't have much shading or texturing so they look flat. The red and gold minidress on page two was the only one that really caught my interest. Faces are in their own section, but they just reused pictures from the skins page to display the faces. The pictures were already too small to display the skins well, so they're really too small to show the faces. Couldn't they at least take close-up shots of the faces, so you could see some details?

Some of the walls and floors weren't bad, especially the ones by Brigitte. Apparently she's the same Brigitte who runs BriSims, because I'm sure I've seen some of these walls there. Some of James's floors were okay, too.

Roofs: only ten of them, displayed with dinky pictures. What is it with all the small graphics at this site? If they're trying to make their pages load faster, they could at least provide larger pictures that display separately when you click on the small ones.

The Paintings section also had really tiny pictures of the paintings. They might look good, but who can tell? I was able to tell that all the paintings were made with ArtStudio, though, so those of you who don't like ArtStudio paintings can skip them.

The site behaves oddly with Netscape. The home page looks fine, but when you go to other pages they start to display correctly, then blank out and redraw with odd distortions: the navigation bar that's supposed to run down the left edge of the page spreads out to cover most of the page, so you have to scroll to the right to see the page's contents. Reloading the page fixes the display, but it gets rather tiresome having to press Reload every time you go to a new page. I eventually switched to IE just so I could get through the rest of the site.

Sorry, but I'm just not wowed. Two martinis.

Squeegee - Like I had started in the prior review of Aloha Sims. Is that it appears like Deja Vu all over again. I am not sure if this is a coincidence or that the people in charge over at Aloha Sims have made some enhancements and now it's time for another critical evaluation. I will assume that it's the later of the two..

I actually was fond of what was on the site before. I do see some new updated improvements and also have taken note of the daily updates. The amount of advertisements are less, but there is a generous amount of those smaller "thumbnail" banners on one of the top bars and also down on the lower left. But, that's all within acceptable limits with me.

The first foremost improvement that I noticed was the more acceptable navigation in the downloads area. The objects button brings the user to a directory of sorts where they can then click on each page. And then they can return to that prior page to look yet again and something else. In my own estimation, this is what I favor the most. It just makes searching so much more easy for me. Oh no!! For a second there I thought that these pages were unfriendly towards Netscape. But it seems NOT to be the case. And I did enjoy the floral set in the "Parlor" area.

Also, note of interest. The site now supports downloads for Mac as was as the PC. I don't think that was the case last time.

Five pages of female skins offered compared to one page for the males. Of what there is, there are a few decent female skins offered. (no children skins at all). It's the same with me. I tend to find it more easy to make female garments then I do any of the others. And yet I do try to even out the balance by making male skins on purpose. Kids?? That's another situation all together!! LOL!

Excellent wall selection. Brigitte and Lacey are turning out some impressive projects. But some of the more detailed artwork just doesn't look right as wallpaper. If they were placed in the Sims Art Studio, then they would fit right in. Fine work regardless!!

I actually took a look at my old review and noticed that I made mention of the amount of pages that were in each group of skins (5 female, 1 male). And I see that the amount has not changed from the last review. So, I really am confused at what was new to the site. Maybe they caught me in a good mood. Or maybe I am just in a slight daze.

If it's only a slight daze and that is all. It has effected my judgment because I will be giving Aloha Sims a higher review then last time. I am submitting a review of three martini glasses and a half chewed cherry. And don't forget the bookmark!!

For all of those who read these reviews and are on a mission to "expose" the reviewers. I might give you some clues that will point you in a general direction. The reviewer Skyler is actually in a woman's minimum security prison for bank fraud in Central California. ;)

Skyler - So, I'm was told to skip my review tonight and just chill out... I think I've offended Vima AGAIN. She's so, um "moody" you know, how does Dane put up with her? Now she thinks I want my claws in Dane... He's not THAT Great.

Look who just walked through the door... I've only had a couple drinks, I know I'm not seeing things, why it is, it's CC. What a God send (pun intended). CC my dear friend, so glad to see you back. I tell you we've all had our boarding passes straight to Hell with you and Church Lady both AWOL. I've been listening to REM's "Loosing My Religion" over and over, I just love that song, I was afraid Marilyn Manson may be next... However with you back, I have no doubts you'll put us all on the straight and narrow in no time whatsoever (yeah right LOL) ;)
