Juicy Gossip

Sims Gift Shop

Vima - The entry color is a little bright for my eyes and I've always had a negative feeling about centered text.

The site features several artists and it appears each artist controls their own design. I wasn't sure if I was still on the same site at first, but backed up and realized that I was.

The site has a mixtutre of good and bad objects. Some of them pass the test with flying colors Some nice recovered beds, animals, great camper walls, rock garden floors and more. Unfortunately, there are also a good share of poor objects which are off angled or flat.

Some of the images are choppy and make the objects look of poor quality. If this is misrepresentitive of the objects, photos from the game would probably be more userful.

It's been an exhausting night. Dane has been spinning me around on the dance floor. If I don't lie down, I think I'll keel over. 2 martinis and an extra olive.

My well it is very salmon colored isn't it? The Gift shop is separated into different pages for the different artists. If you have a favorite you can go directly to their section.

I went to Indian's stuff first, I think that I have seen some of this before when we reviewed Canadian sims??? My but the pages are taking forever to load...I think that I will just have a bit of a sit down while I wait. That is why I always bring the good book with me on these assignments, I never know when I will have the opportunity to study a bit. Perhaps even get a head start on my sermon. Praise be!!

There is a blue bed that I really like, the pattern on the bed may be a bit misaligned but it is a vague enough pattern that I don't think you would notice the seam down the middle. There are a good amount of items on Indian's pages and some quite nice, others look as though they are leaning a little to one side.

OH my Goodness, Mom's head on a platter??? Shame on you Mare for showing something like this...I cannot condone that at all...May the good Lord forgive you! Oh but then you redeem yourself with the who wedding setup...and in pink no less. How sweet!

100 beans page did not load...So I can only imagine what was on it.

Lanzorth has some really bright and gaudy walls, not to my taste! There is a "tax time surprise" that might be worth the trip. I always seem to get a surprise come tax time, but not one that I want.

Lphntschlds, please add a vowel, for my sanity!!!!!! :) The beach sand is such a neat idea...I want it for the children, at the academy so that they may have a lovely sandbox!

Lilly of the Valley is next and has toys which are very one dimensional, I do not particularly like them, but I do like the bird feeder! I am a firm believer in feeder God's little creatures!

Georgiegirl is the last page to look through and I have to say that my sciatic is really acting up fortunately it takes so long to load the pages that I can sit and rest a bit between each time. Georgiegirl's pages are set up so that you don't have to wait so long to get everything to load on the main page...it is much better. Most of the things were a bit more cartoony than I like but, there are some nice lamps. A couple of the Tiffany style table lamps are going home with me today!

I am sort of hoping that others in the gift shop can change things somewhat maybe limit how much is on each page. That would help immensely in load time! I am giving three communion cups for the site. And a book mark as well.

I better get this to the lounge before Vima raises the very Devil himself...Oh saints preserve us!

Storel - The Sims Gift Shop is a large site, with sections for each of its seven different creators, some of which are subdivided into additional sections, so I don't have the space for my usual section-by-section overview. Some of the creators are well known -- I've seen Indian's objects at several other sites, including Sims in a Bottle -- while some are just starting out: 100 Beans is only nine years old. Indian and Mare have what are probably the best made objects, but all the creators had interesting things to contribute. For example, I liked the cute coffee-bean wall and floor from 100 Beans; Lphntschld has some striking beach murals; and Lanzorth has the most unusual object: a tax refund.

Unfortunately, the webmaster here hasn't learned that when a file has spaces in its filename, the link to that file should use the

%20
code instead of spaces so that both Internet Exploder and Netscape can find the file. Omitting this elementary step means that much of the site is unusable in Netscape because, due to spaces in the image files' names, you can't see what things look like before you download them. On some pages all the graphics are unviewable in Netscape. Even worse, some of the zip files have spaces in their names, so even if you don't mind not being able to see them, you still can't download them with Netscape.

Several graphics were just plain broken, even in IE; I counted eight that couldn't be seen in either browser, six of them on Lily of the Valley's page alone. And the spelling and grammar had many flaws -- I don't think I ever saw Lphntschld's name spelled the same way twice. This is pretty sloppy work, and these creators deserve better. After deducting points for poor websmithing, I give the Sims Gift Shop two martinis plus an extra lime.

Squeegee - I have a objective. It's a mission to find a web browser that will give this site it's complete acknowledgment. Recognition that is due to this site. But, to be as sincere as I can be. It appears that if I use Netscape. I will see numerous broken image graphics as well as color combinations that do not agree to well with my eyes.

Using IE, I see that the site loads better. I like the animation of the two babies giving each other a peck on the cheek. Very cute and I have to declare that watching that animation has settled down my emotions from discovering that my trusted and loyal browser can not read the website correctly. All is well in love and war I guess. Poor Netscape, I am loyal to thee!!

Simple front page that features what some would say as a "soothing" peach type of wallpaper. I really don't think that the peach shade gives the website justice. But I will put that aside to observe the rest of what is offered. The animation of the twin babies is too cute!! But, I would recommend that it's given a more pronounced appearance on the site like at the very top. To me, and this is my own opinion. I think it appears out of place at it's present location.

Navigation is very simple, that is if your able to read the small letters that appear on the golden link squares. Since it's early evening here and I am in a dark room with only the monitor giving off light. I can read the text on the buttons fine.

The very top link brings the user to the work of Indian. Is this the same Indian that I have seen in the numerous forums off and on for a good year or so?? I have admired his/her work for some time. I admire it because it's inventive and distinctive then the work of others in the Sims community. People will be engrossed to the objects featured at the very bottom of the page. The damned name of that object escapes me at this time!! But it would be a nice added feature for the Western theme in House Party though.. ;)

Mare's featured work stands out as also being innovative. Users will find a religious statue that actually would appear to be realistic within a Sim home. The angles appear to be correct, that's what I mean.. :) Be aware that the "Lilly of the Valley" image doesn't appear in either Netscape OR IE. And once you do go to that themed page. The user is greeted with a half dozen broken image links. I have a major pet-peeve that I must see what the objects is before I download it. And I don't care if it's a offering from Maxis. I still must have a representation reference to judge it right then and there. And with those numerous broken image links I am then denied this basic function of my well being. I will have to keep this URL handy so I can check again over a period of a few days to see exactly what is offered. It's suspense, but it's good for ones blood flow.. :)

One Hundred Beans!! (100 Beans for those in Florida who can't vote correctly). A nine year old with a keenness for coffee beans?? I like what this fan offers!! I have to admit that the coffee bean wallpaper reminds me of that cult classic movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

I am actually enjoying this site. Because not only can I check out the innovations of these fine people. But I can also be a spectator the unique artwork as well. I am attracted to the work of "Lphtschld". There are some beautiful things there.

Well, I was not able to view the last few artist pages due to something happening with the Sims Resource server. But if I have to sum it up right now then I will have to say that I am satisfied with this encounter. I do admit that I had my doubts on how this website would be because it's not viewer friendly to both browsers. But I then add in the fact that you are able to review the wonderful work of a nine year old Sims fan and everything turns out wonderful.

I am very pleased to submit a review of three martinis and a bookmark.
