Canadian Sims

Vima - Oh, Canada...my home and native land...cough, cough. Looks like these Canadian women have undergone the knife...I'd better cover Dane's eyes! Scantilly clad women look like massage parlor whores. Some great skins at the bottom are coming soon, only we can't see what they look like...however, the x's come through loud and clear. Don't you hate it when that happens on review night ;)

I think I'll get a new dress...picking the white...ewww, I have to download all of these to get one skin? And which one is the one I want to look at? Are there only women in Canada? I don't see any men here.

Oh, some of these wallpapers are really nice...too bad all of the good ones are at the bottom. I'd hate for someone to miss them because they didn't like the ones up top.

I've seen the best of these floors before...Ooh, and ugly fish carpet to match that fish rug at SimFreaks...ewwww.

Objects: Well, well, well I've seen this set before...weren't these a light wood though? If you're going to recolor that island, wish you had done something about those ugly books. Spend so much time on an object and don't even tile it correctly >:( No matter how creative the piece, if the tile (or wood) doesn't fit together nicely, then forget it! Already have a red desk...already have a blue desk...don't want bathroom recolors...didn't like the original set enough to put a recolor of it in there.

Well, I think I'm done..."See anything that interests you, Dane?" Vima sees Dane heading back toward the skin section "Cover your eyes, Dane!"

He turns around. "Come one, let's go grab a couple of martinis."

Addtional notes: skins could use a little shading and hightlights, but overall look very good...if you like that sort of thing. Layout is okay. A few links lead to pages with no content, better to leave those out until you get some.

Skyler - Canadian Sims... I love Canada, what I don't love is these adds flashing at me page after page in addition to faux neon. V... Where are you? Oh there you are, I didn't recognize you in those sunglasses, whole lotta flashin' goin' on eh? And who do I see with you? CC? CC&V sounds like a new weight loss gimmick. Lets go girls... I sounded a bit like Shania for a minute there ;)

On to the objects... Misc. section is sparse, but the Canadian Mounties are a cute idea. Kinda cute recolors for the bathroom. There's a more muted kids bedroom set. These pages are taking entirely to long to load... Will I ever have DSL available in my area? For months now they keep saying "call back in a month" Sorry I was getting off on a tangent there...

This kitchen set is nice looking. I remember thinking the same thing when I downloaded it last summer off of a different site in a light oak, which I prefer by the way, I'm assuming it's made by the same creator. There should be a picture inserted somewhere around here. Now you don't want me to comment on the "sets" because that page was just scary and evil!!! I think someone better contact the CDC because that set looks infected with something =:o Without a doubt, the gem of the object section is the pets! I know they just sit there, but their still pretty cute, and a nice variety to choose from, and the St. Bernard is very cute :)

On to walls, I think I'll do my nails while waiting for this page to load. The first section looks all distorted, but nonetheless it tiles up nicely. The papers definitely get better as you scroll down the page, although the tiling isn't great on all the papers. I'll only use a perfectly seamless paper in my Sims homes :) Oh, little did I know these were the misc. walls. I somehow missed that until I was ready to go to the floors, and in my opinion those were the best.

On to floors... I'm disappointed with these. The wood floors I've seen at least a dozen other sites, and I was really hoping to find that cool looking "water" flooring that was in an earlier screen shot from the pets section :(

On to the skins... Low and behold, I do believe I just found Vima's boobs, and they're even bigger than before!!! Some of these outfits are pretty. Although not all of them look like the kind of women that would visit such a refined establishment as Sim Lounge. I do like the country western influenced Canadian flag shirt though :) To bad I can't see the great skins that will be coming soon, guess I'll just have to take their word on it!!! :)

I'll give this site two martini glasses with extra bubbles promising to come back if I there isn't as much flashing at me next time!

Oh CC, did you hear Mason is involved in a scandalous love affair, which is why her reviews keep getting shorter and shorter! Hmmm... I wonder what the length of my reviews say about my love life, or lack there of :(

Mason - Canadian Sims Well I open the page and automatically am prompted to download something? Hmmmm maybe it's a glitch… Nope! I am prompted on every page I open ok I HATE that! Well most of the objects just look like they are cut and pasted into the game which I do not like, I don't know about you guys but I like my objects to look like the belong in my game not in a catalog. Almost all of the skins are long dresses which have no real texture or style to them. I give this site 1 Flirtini Glass

Squeegee - Are there sincerely northern Sims that are deemed Canadian?? I think there is, and I bet that the more hardcore Sim players hail from that northern country. And so I find myself reviewing a site that is full of Canadian honor.

But there is also a fact that banner ads can be found all over the globe and Canadian sites are not exempt. I was greeted with a pop-up ad when I first loaded up the main page. Not one of those sneaky ads, but an ad nonetheless. The design is decent and the text is easy to read. But, I do think that there is just a little too much animated graphics at the top of the main page.

Seems the website has not been updated for a week. That's not a big deal since House Party was recently released and many sites are taking short holiday to enjoy the new goodies..

Since I am a skinner, I tend to look at the skin sections first. I liked the skin featured that has the Canadian colors as a shirt, but it doesn't appear completed. That is unless the person wanted the look of bare shoulders on that Sim. There are also skins featured by a different author and the site does notify the user that they have permission to feature them. And I have to admit that the skins look very nice. There is frustration that there are a few broken images in the lower part the page and I can't see the skins that would be posted at a future date.

The object area is small, but easy to navigate. I like how the categories are set and easy to get to. I got a kick out of the floors portion. I thought the floor tile that shows a pile of American dollars was nice. But hey!! Why American Dollars and not Canadian?? Ha!! Some of the walls are lacking texture so I wouldn't place them within my game. I have learned from experience that I favor walls that have textures on the brighter colors used. A white wall with no texture just doesn't look convincing to me. And there are a few of them in the walls section.. But the "Burned Wall" listed does make up in creative points that counters the negative of the white walls. But what is strange is that the burned wall is covering up some text on the page. Because of this I couldn't read some essential words about a artist who sent in some of the walls.

The "Spotlight" section shows the numerous astonishing projects that 7 Deadly Sims has made over the last few months. They are not for download, but more like the author is showing what they like within the Sims community other then what they have made. I don't know, to me this shows the person isn't into just limiting a user of the site to that sites things only. Hard to explain, but it shows a trait that is honest in nature. I have always been big on human traits that show a person's unselfish nature. And this Spotlight area shows that.

Overall, there are some negatives, but they are simple. I present my humble review of two martini glasses and a half chewed cherry.

Storel - If you checked out Canadian Sims right after it opened and were put off by the poor layout, check it again. The site was completely revamped in early March and looks much better. It's one of the few sites that actually looks a little better in Netscape than IE, so they get bonus points for that from this Netscape user. It still doesn't have much content, though, and not much of the content is actually Canadian (although the Mountie statue is cool).

The original objects are somewhat outnumbered by the recolors -- heavily outnumbered in some categories -- and most of the original objects are by guest artists and have been seen at those artists' own sites. The two kitchen sets were only available as sets; being able to download the individual pieces would be nice.

I'm not crazy about walls, but there were a few interesting ones, including three that could only be found under "Objects - Sets", confusingly. There were a few nice wood floors, but the rest were forgettable.

Only one page of skins: a Canadian square dance outfit, and two sets of skins on loan with permission from another site. Under the heading "These great skins will be available soon", all four of the pictures were missing, so that was a rather pointless experience...

Overall, I'm not wowed. Not much original content, and most of that is available elsewhere. On the plus side, the few Canadian items are pretty interesting, and the site would be well advised to strengthen its identity by focusing on more Canadian items that can't be gotten elsewhere. I give it two martini glasses, with an extra lime for the Netscape support.

Back at the Lounge. Hmm, looks quiet in here tonight. Bartender, I'll have a Canadian whiskey and soda...
